The FEP printer is a great choice for packagers wishing to lot and/or date code their packaging. The FEP is easily installed on any FA series, OPL series or MS-350 sealers. On slick films, such as polypropylene, polyethylene, nylon and foil pouches, printing has been a problem as standard ink will smear. The FEP utilizes specially formulated ink ribbon that, when applied with thermal slugs makes a permanent bond to these difficult films. Because the FEP uses heat transfer, the print is instantly set and will not smear during production handling and can even withstand many solvents.
In packaging flexible films there are many advantages to utilizing the thermal transfer ink process. For instance, because the system utilizes no liquid ink there are no messy ink bottles or leaks to contend with. Further, the clear imprint that the FEP printer produces is incredibly hardy and can withstand the rigors of shipment and handling. Also, the thermal transfer ribbon can be special ordered in a variety of colors allowing the printed area to stand out on even dark foil pouches. Some of our customers utilize white, red, blue, etc. in order to manage printing on these darker pouches. The FEP was designed with convenience in mind and ribbon replacement is a very easy, intuitive process. And because the FEP printer microadvances the thermal transfer ribbon you will not need to change ribbon often, even in high production arenas. The FEP printer aftermarket retrofit is a simple process.
Because the OPL Series, the FA Series, and the MS-350 Series all are configured to accept the FEP you need only plug the unit into the power output module on these machines and simply bolt on the unit to the upper jaw with the included 10mm bolts and now you are ready to print and seal. The thermal printer ribbon is spooled onto low particulate fiber cores in order to help manage particulates in controlled environments such as cleanrooms. Also, the FEP printer can be attached to its own standalone table in order to segregate the printing function with the sealing function. When ordering the FEP in this configuration ask about the HP-362 printer.
The FEP microadvances the thermal ribbon in order to conserve the transfer
ribbon. Each FEP ships with a slug kit. Other specialty slugs,
such as ISO-compliant simple slugs, can be ordered for the FEP. So when
your project includes lot or date stamping, consider the FEP printer and
seal
and print in one single motion. For additional information on how the FEP
